Boise Fare Index: What Flights from BOI Actually Cost
The Boise Fare Index tracks the economy airfares actually recorded on routes out of Boise Airport (BOI). No route currently clears the 8-fare minimum for the last 90 days, so there is no headline figure to publish today. Figures return as soon as the threshold is met, and the live JSON feed always reflects the current state.
Boise Travel Club is a Boise, Idaho family business that has monitored fares out of BOI since 2024. We publish this index because Treasure Valley travelers, local reporters and researchers kept asking what a normal fare from Boise actually looks like, and nobody was answering with figures they could check.
Current status
No route clears the observation threshold today. This page publishes figures only when the data supports them, so it will show the table again as soon as the scanners have recorded enough fares.
How the index is built
- Every figure is computed from economy-cabin fares recorded by Boise Travel Club's automated fare scanners for itineraries departing Boise Airport (BOI) in the last 90 days.
- Each observation is one round-trip or one-way fare seen at scan time for a specific pair of travel dates. Observations are not weighted by how many people actually booked, so this describes advertised fares, not revenue or paid fares.
- Round-trip and one-way fares are reported separately and never averaged together.
- A route is published only once it has at least 8 observations in the window. Routes below that threshold are excluded and counted, not estimated.
- The headline index is the median of the per-route medians, so a heavily scanned route cannot pull the overall figure.
- The month-over-month change compares the median of the most recent 30 days against the median of the 30 days before it, and is reported only when both halves clear the observation threshold.
- Fares exclude seat, bag and change fees. Airlines change prices continuously, so any individual fare may no longer be available.
What the index does not tell you
These are advertised fares, not what passengers paid, and they are not weighted by how many seats sold at each price. The index cannot be read as an average ticket price for Boise, and it is not a forecast. It also excludes seat, bag and change fees, so the amount a traveler finally pays is usually higher than the fare shown here.

The dataset is published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license, so anyone may republish, chart or build on these figures, including commercially, as long as the source is credited. No permission request is needed and there is no embargo.

What is the Boise Fare Index?
It is a running measure of the economy airfares actually recorded on routes departing Boise Airport (BOI). Boise Travel Club's automated scanners log fares continuously; the index reports the median, the lowest and the middle spread of those observations for each route over the last 90 days.
How is the index calculated?
Each observation is one advertised economy fare for a specific pair of travel dates, recorded at the moment it was seen. Per route we report the median, the 25th and 75th percentiles, the lowest and the highest. The headline figure is the median of the per-route medians, so a route that happens to be scanned more often cannot pull the overall number. Round-trip and one-way fares are reported separately and never averaged together.
Can I republish these numbers?
Yes. The dataset is licensed Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC-BY-4.0). Republish, chart or build on it, including commercially, with a credit to the Boise Fare Index at Boise Travel Club. No permission request and no embargo.
How often does the index update?
The underlying scanners record fares throughout the day and the published index rebuilds at least every six hours. Every figure on this page and in the feed carries the date of the most recent observation behind it.
Does the index predict future fares?
No. It is a record of fares that were observed, not a forecast. Airlines reprice continuously, so a median from the last ninety days describes what has been available rather than what a given trip will cost. Treat the 30-day change as a description of the recent past.
Why is a route I expected missing?
A route is published only once it has at least 8 recorded fares in the window. Routes below that are counted on this page but left out rather than estimated, because a median drawn from a handful of observations is not something a reader should rely on.
Are these fares bookable right now?
Not necessarily. The index describes fares as they were recorded, including ones that have since sold out or been repriced. For fares currently on offer, see the live flight deals from Boise instead, and confirm any final price with the airline or booking site.
